Our founders

An engineer and a doctor.

PRÆTOR Health was founded by Colin Olliver and Dr Robert Stevens. Colin has spent nearly two decades working in data and AI. Dr Stevens has practised medicine for more than 25 years. Together they built a service that makes private blood testing, and what your results mean, easier to understand.

Colin Olliver

Making health data clear, dependable and private.

Colin has spent nearly two decades working in data. He started in business intelligence and analytics in financial services, then went on to lead data and AI engineering teams, building platforms that run reliably across several countries.

Along the way he has led security testing of AI services before they reached customers, and helped teams put AI to work in their day-to-day jobs. The lesson he brings to Praetor is that AI is only useful when it has clear boundaries.

Colin founded Praetor with Dr Stevens to bring the same discipline to personal health data. He leads the technology behind the service: how your results arrive from the laboratory, how they are stored and protected, and how the optional AI summary explains them in plain English. It is educational and never replaces a doctor.

What Colin brings

  • Reliable by design

Your results move from the laboratory to your account through systems built to be checked and trusted.

  • AI with boundaries

The AI summary is optional. It explains your results and never diagnoses.

  • Privacy first

Your health data is yours. It is kept secure and never sold.

Dr Robert Stevens

MBChB MRCGP Dip.FIPT

Bringing clinical experience and perspective to health education.

Dr Stevens qualified in medicine at Sheffield Medical School in 1997. He began his career in surgery before moving into general practice to develop a broader understanding of health and wellbeing, becoming a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2010. In 2013, he completed a Diploma in Fitness and Personal Training, reflecting his long-standing belief in the close relationship between physical health and mental resilience.

In 2016, Dr Stevens co-founded The Men's Health Clinic in Ferndown, Dorset, where his approach to hormone health emphasises individual assessment and the importance of understanding the wider clinical picture rather than focusing on individual blood markers in isolation. He is a member of the British, European and International Societies for Sexual Medicine.

As a founder and clinical adviser to Praetor, Dr Stevens has contributed his medical knowledge and experience to the development of its blood testing panels, helping to inform the selection of relevant biomarkers and the educational context in which they are presented.

He has also contributed to Praetor's educational resources, drawing on his clinical experience to help make complex medical subjects more accessible and understandable.

Clinical contribution

  • Informed biomarker selection

His clinical experience has helped inform which markers each panel includes.

  • Evidence first

The articles and explanations draw on published research and clinical practice.

  • The whole person

A result is one piece of evidence. The context around it matters as much as the number.
