Using Praetor in ChatGPT

Add the Praetor Health plugin to ChatGPT, then explore, look up and compare our blood tests in your own words.

Written by Colin Olliver, FounderPublished 7 November 2026

What the plugin can do

If you use ChatGPT, you can add Praetor Health to it and explore our UK blood-test catalogue in the same conversation. You describe what you would like to check in your own words, and ChatGPT reads our public catalogue and shows the tests whose markers fit.

It is a catalogue plugin. It does not connect ChatGPT to your Praetor account or your health record.

ChatGPT can browse our test ranges, look up a biomarker and the tests that include it, open the details of a single test, or compare two to four tests side by side. Each test shows its test price beside the lowest total you would pay including collection, with the markers it measures, its collection options, preparation and expected turnaround.

The plugin is read-only. It cannot change your Praetor account, place an order, take a payment or book an appointment. When you are ready, it opens the test's page on praetor.health, where you order in the usual way. Praetor tests are available in the United Kingdom.

The plugin gives product information, not medical advice. It cannot interpret your personal results, diagnose a condition, confirm or rule out a condition, recommend treatment or tell you whether a test is medically right for you.

Adding Praetor Health to ChatGPT

You need a ChatGPT account. A Praetor account, API key or separate Praetor sign-in is not required. ChatGPT lists Praetor Health under Plugins.

1. Open the Praetor Health listing in ChatGPT, signing in to ChatGPT if asked. You can also search for Praetor Health in ChatGPT's Plugins directory.

2. Install the plugin. If ChatGPT shows a permissions screen, read it before you continue. Praetor never asks for a password or any other credentials.

3. Start a conversation. Type @Praetor Health at the start of your message, or choose one of the example prompts on the listing page, which open a chat with Praetor Health already selected.

Once it is installed, Open plugin on the listing page opens the Praetor explorer straight away, so you can look around before asking anything. Where your version of ChatGPT shows it, PRÆTOR blood tests in the sidebar does the same.

If your ChatGPT account is managed by an employer or school, an administrator may need to allow plugins first. ChatGPT's interface, plans and device support change from time to time; OpenAI's current guidance is at https://help.openai.com/.

Questions you can ask

You can start with a goal, a biomarker or a test name. For example:

“I want a general health check. Which Praetor tests should I compare?”

“Which Praetor tests include ApoB?”

“Show me Praetor tests with clinic collection under £250.”

“Compare Performance Bronze with Performance Gold.”

If you would like a card rather than a written answer, ask ChatGPT to show you the tests. For a simple question it sometimes replies in text alone.

You do not need to give your name, medical history, medication or blood results to explore the catalogue, so please leave them out. A search can show which tests match what you asked about. It cannot tell you whether you need testing in the first place.

Cards and the Praetor explorer

When ChatGPT shows tests, they appear as a card in the conversation. A comparison card sets out each test's price, the lowest total including collection, the number of markers, the markers only one of them has, how the sample is taken and when results are due.

Explore differences opens the Praetor explorer beside the conversation. You can switch between every marker, the markers the tests share and the markers the larger test adds, and hide the categories you are not interested in. The conversation stays open next to it, so you can keep asking ChatGPT about what you are looking at.

Choose shows that test's collection options and then takes you to its page on praetor.health, where you can check the full details and order.

Look at the total as well as the test price. Some collection methods add a fee, so a test can cost more than its test price once collection is included. Prices, availability, preparation and marker lists can change, and ChatGPT's written answer can leave things out or get them wrong, so treat the card and the product page as the reference before you order.

What information is shared

The Praetor tools do not take free text from your conversation. When ChatGPT calls one, Praetor receives only the optional filters and catalogue names ChatGPT passes, such as a test, a biomarker, a budget, a collection method or a sex filter, together with limited technical request information.

Praetor uses this information to answer the request. It is not added to your Praetor account or health record, and tool arguments are not recorded in our application logs. Limited operational data, including request status and duration, is used to operate and protect the service, so this does not mean that no technical data is logged.

The plugin does not access your orders, reports, results or profile. When you open a test page from ChatGPT, you arrive on praetor.health like any other visitor, and our privacy policy applies there.

OpenAI's terms and privacy policy separately govern how ChatGPT handles your conversation.

Troubleshooting

If ChatGPT answers without using Praetor, start your message with @Praetor Health so it knows to use the plugin.

If you cannot find Praetor Health, open the listing link above while signed in to ChatGPT. On a managed account, ask the administrator whether plugins are allowed.

If ChatGPT says the Praetor Health catalogue is temporarily unavailable, nothing was found or ruled out. Try again later, or browse the tests on our website.

If no tests match, try a published test name or a simpler biomarker name, and check whether a budget or collection filter is ruling out the test you expected. No match is a search result, not a clinical finding.

If a price or marker list looks unexpected, check it against the product page before relying on it.

Removing the plugin and getting help

To remove the plugin, open the Praetor Health listing in ChatGPT, select the ⋯ menu and choose Uninstall.

Removing it does not delete earlier ChatGPT conversations. You manage those separately in ChatGPT.

If you use Claude, you can connect it to the same catalogue: see Using Praetor in Claude. Meet Praetor explains the assistant built into our website, which can also help you understand your results.

For support, use our contact page or email support@praetor.health. Include the error message and the step that failed, but leave out passwords, personal blood results and other sensitive information.
